Project is the largest expansion project in the history of Chinese civil aviation. It includes the construction of a new T3 terminal, two runways, and a comprehensive transportation hub. With a total investment exceeding 40 billion RMB, the completed airport will become the largest single-terminal airport in the world, with an estimated annual passenger throughput of 120 million by 2030.
Panyu Cable Group has supplied the WDZB1-BTLY and YTTW mineral insulated cables for the Guangzhou Baiyun Airport Phase III project, offering exceptional performance to meet the high safety and reliability requirements of the airport’s power supply system.
Solution:
1.The WDZB1-BTLY cable utilizes an aluminum sheath and continuous extrusion process, which is more cost-effective than traditional copper sheaths. It offers superior fire resistance, capable of withstanding 750°C fire exposure for up to 90 minutes without breakdown. It can also endure fire exposure at 830°C with impact for 90 minutes without failure and can provide power for up to 3 hours at 950°C without breakdown. Additionally, it is water-resistant, impact-resistant, and offers protection against rodents and insects, meeting the national standards GB/T 19216.21 and BS6387. It also complies with the GB31247-2014 national standard for cable combustion performance, achieving the highest B1-level fire test rating, with no dripping of burning materials, corrosion, or toxicity. The cable features low-smoke, halogen-free, flame-retardant insulation and high-resistance filling materials, effectively reducing heat release during combustion and preventing fire spread through dripping materials. This ensures the safety of the airport’s fire safety systems (e.g., emergency lighting and smoke evacuation equipment).
2.The YTTW cable features a flexible copper sheath design that allows for continuous, joint-free installation, overcoming the traditional length limitations of cables and adapting to the airport’s large-scale power layout. Its superior fire resistance ensures that it can continue to operate normally for more than 3 hours in flames at 950°C, while also withstanding water spraying and mechanical impacts during combustion. This guarantees the stability of power supply in densely populated areas such as the terminal building and subway connection zones.
3.Both cables are made from environmentally friendly materials, with no smoke or toxic emissions during combustion, in compliance with the airport’s environmental requirements. With a lifespan of over 40 years and excellent corrosion resistance, they significantly reduce the operation and maintenance costs over the full lifecycle.
